It’s Election Day - VOTE!

Hello Indivisible Citizens of Catawba Valley,

It’s another Take Action Tuesday from the ICCV Legislative Committee. This alert is hitting your inbox early, on Monday evening, because, if you haven’t already voted, TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 3,  is your last chance to make your voice heard! NOTE: You cannot register to vote on Election Day, and you MUST vote at your assigned polling location. If you’re not sure where you vote today, go to https://vt.ncsbe.gov/RegLkup/ and look up your registration. Once you find your registration, scroll down to find your polling place. Polls are open from 6:30 am until 7:30 pm. If you are in line at 7:30, STAY IN LINE! You will be allowed to vote.

Do you have friends and family who have not voted? Is there someone in your neighborhood who may need a ride? Call them! Offer to help! Every. Vote. Matters.

For those of you who have voted, thank you! WBTV News is reporting that turnout during early voting was record breaking. https://www.wbtv.com/2026/11/01/record-28m-early-ballots-cast-north-carolina-driven-by-unaffiliated-voters-steady-democrats/

So, let’s talk about what happens next, after all the votes are cast. We will be watching early returns, of course, but the results are not official until every vote is counted, and the results are certified at both the county and state levels. Some absentee ballots still have deficiencies that need to be fixed. State law requires ballots to be cured by 12 noon on the 5th business day after the election, which is noon on November 10. https://ballotpedia.org/Cure_period_for_absentee_and_mail-in_ballots#statebystate-northcarolina-33

Catawba County Board of Elections meetings are held at the Board office at 145 Government Drive, Newton, and are open to the public.

The Board is scheduled to meet on Tuesday, November 10 at 4:00 PM to approve provisional ballots and other business. The county canvass, during which results are finalized, is scheduled for November 13, 2026 at 11:00 AM. Once the canvass is complete, it is sent to the North Carolina State Board of Elections for statewide canvassing and certification.

The statewide canvass is scheduled for November 24, 2026. Plans are underway for a demonstration at Halifax Mall in Raleigh to hold the state Board accountable for counting every vote and certifying the results. If there is enough interest, we are investigating the possibility of taking a charter bus for this event. More information on that will be coming soon!

WHAT TO DO and HOW TO DO IT

Please share this information with family and friends who may not be as well-informed. Make sure the people in your life have voted or help them vote NOW!

We do not know the outcome of the election, or what sort of subversion may take place in the aftermath. Indivisible National is asking groups to prepare for rapid response mass mobilization. We may be asked to be in the streets with 24-48 hours’ notice. Please make sure we have your current contact information, including your phone number. It’s unlikely, but if there is significant disruption to communications, we may need to text or create a phone tree to reach members.

This week’s quote:

"The Constitution is worth saving, the rule of law is worth saving, democracy is worth saving, but these things can and will be lost if everyone waits around for someone else."

~ Timothy Snyder

Thank you for everything you do to protect our democracy!
