What We Did Together!
We made it through the first quarter of 2026, and it’s been a difficult time for America. But we continue to stay strong, resisting the authoritarian regime. We loved seeing so many like-minded people at the No Kings event in Newton on Saturday, March 28!
Take Action Tuesday is a little different this week. We’re looking back at this year’s previous Actions and giving an update on where we are on these issues. We frontloaded actionable information for those who don’t have time for our deep dive.
We’re looking forward to Indivisible’s next event, Spring Into Action, on April 12 at Catawba Farms, 4:30 - 7:00 PM. Family friendly, fun, social, games, food trucks. It should be a great afternoon! https://www.indivisibleccv.org/calendar/spring-into-action

ISSUES AND ACTIONS
Voting Concerns
● January 6 focused on the importance of voter registration, checking to be sure your registration is correct, and preparing to vote in the midterm primaries on March 3.
https://www.indivisibleccv.org/january-6-2026
● January 20, we returned to the subject of elections, with a focus on local primaries, particularly the 10thCongressional District. We provided candidate website information, encouraged everyone to download their sample ballot and to choose candidates whose values aligned with their own. We also suggested issues on which to continue calling legislators.
https://www.indivisibleccv.org/january-20-2026
● February 10 focused on the raid on the elections office in Fulton County, Georgia, which we saw as another risk to free and fair elections in 2026. At this point, the president was calling for Republicans to “take over” the 2026 elections.
https://www.indivisibleccv.org/february-10-2026
● February 17 we re-stated information about early voting for the mid-term primaries and encouraged everyone to participate in the primary.
https://www.indivisibleccv.org/february-17-2026
● February 24, we provided information on proposed rules by the North Carolina State Board of Elections (NCSBE). These rules were presented as a “fix” for non-citizen voting, which is a non-existent problem. This was a complex issue, requiring public comments be submitted to the NCSBE by midnight on March 16, 2026. We explained each of the 4 rules and reasons why they would disenfranchise millions of North Carolinians. We encouraged submitting written comments to the NCSBE. We also briefly discussed the SAVE America Act, another voter suppression bill under consideration. We recommended calling legislators to oppose this bill.
https://www.indivisibleccv.org/february-24-2026
● March 3 was primary election day. We reminded people to get out and VOTE if they had not done so already. We also provided some additional information on the NCSBE proposed rules, and some suggested comments for submission. (See also, War With Iran, below).
https://www.indivisibleccv.org/march-3-2026
● March 10, we reminded people to submit written comments to the NCSBE on the proposed rules no later than March 16. (Again, see War with Iran, below)
https://www.indivisibleccv.org/march-10-2026
● March 24, we returned to voter suppression issues, this week in the form of the SAVE America Act. This horrific voter suppression bill would disenfranchise millions of Americans, particularly married women, the elderly, and those living in rural areas. This bill passed the House in February, and President Trump is now pressing the Senate to pass an even more repressive version of the bill, including an anti-transgender amendment and a ban on voting by mail. We called our Senators with messages opposing this restrictive voting bill.

Where are we NOW? And What Do We Do NEXT?
● Primary election turnout in Catawba County was almost 19% of registered voters. This midterm primary set a record in North Carolina, with over 1.5 million ballots cast. Next is Get Out the Vote for November!
● The NCSBE received over 15,000 written public comments on the proposed rules, as well as a packed room of speakers at the public hearing on March 9. The vote on these rules is planned for mid-April. Once the rules are approved by NCSBE, they go to the Rules Review Committee, which may either approve them, or refer them to the legislature for consideration. We will continue to monitor and update when action is needed on this.
● The SAVE America Act is currently being debated in the Senate, although the Senators left Washington on Friday for a 2-week recess. KEEP CALLING!
ICE and CBP operations and illegal actions:
● January 13, we reacted to the murder of Renee Good in Minneapolis with demands that our lawmakers oppose increased funding for ICE or Border Patrol, and to refuse to vote for funding without restrictions on ICE.
https://www.indivisibleccv.org/january-13-2026
● January 27, we wrote about the murder of Alex Pretti in Minneapolis. At this point, our neighbors in the Twin Cities were being constantly terrorized by these para-military governmental agents. We again demanded no further funding for ICE or CBP without appropriate reforms, independent investigations into the illegal actions of ICE and CBP agents, and congressional hearings into these agencies. We continued acting on these issues on February 3.

Where are we NOW? And What Do We Do NEXT?
● Gregory Bovino is out as commander of Operation Metro Surge in Minneapolis; Tom Homan is now in charge of that operation. While he claims to be de-escalating the operation, it seems more a change in tactics than a real de-escalation. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/feb/05/tom-homan-minnesota-gregory-bovinoKEEP CALLING DEMANDING REFORMS!
● Kristi Noem is out as DHS Secretary, and Markwayne Mullin is in. It is unlikely that this is an improvement in leadership. https://www.npr.org/2026/03/23/g-s1-114813/markwayne-mullin-confirmed-homeland-securityKEEP CALLING DEMANDING REFORMS!
● Early Friday, March 27, the Senate passed a bill to fund DHS without ICE and CBP. The Senate then left for the 2-week recess. The House rejected that version of the bill and passed its own version later the same day.

President Trump then signed an executive order to pay TSA as the shutdown drags on. While this will be a relief to agents who have gone without pay, it may not provide relief to the traveling public for some time. https://www.pbs.org/newshour/nation/what-to-know-about-trumps-executive-order-to-pay-tsa-officers-and-its-impact-on-airport-security-linesCall and write legislators and DEMAND NO FUNDING for ICE or CBP without significant reforms.
War with Iran
● March 3 Take Action Tuesday addressed the War with Iran which began on February 28. The discussion centered on the deaths of U S servicemembers, as well as hundreds of innocent civilians, including children and teachers in a girls’ school, in a war that was not Congressionally approved. The shifting “reasons” for the attacks, and no clear end game were and still are deeply concerning.
https://www.indivisibleccv.org/march-3-2026
● March 10 and March 17 saw continued military actions in Iran and in the surrounding region. There had been no coherent explanation for the actions, and no plan for evacuating US citizens caught in the area. We continued calling and writing our legislators.
https://www.indivisibleccv.org/march-10-2026
https://www.indivisibleccv.org/march-17-2026
Where are we NOW? And What Do We Do NEXT?
● The Iran War is now entering week 5. Additional troops have been sent to the region. https://www.washingtonpost.com/national-security/2026/03/28/trump-iran-ground-troops-marines/KEEP CALLING. INSIST ON TRANSPARENCY AND CONGRESSIONAL AUTHORIZATION.
● Thousands of civilians have been injured or killed. Pakistan and other regional leaders are attempting to negotiate an end to the conflict, while the U S appears to be preparing for a ground invasion. https://www.cnn.com/2026/03/29/world/live-news/iran-war-us-israel-trumpCALL AND TELL YOUR LEGISLATORS YOU OPPOSE A GROUND WAR.
● Gas prices are up. Food prices are rising, and farmers are struggling to source fertilizer for crops. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2026/mar/29/americans-struggling-rising-costs-iran-war?CMP=fb_gu#Echobox=1774793395KEEP CALLING.
