Day of Action - All of US 250
All of US 250
We will be staring from three different points to meet at Sally Fox Park. Groups will march from the Piedmont Wagon on the City Walk (109 11th St SW), St Andrews Lutheran Church and The Ridgeview Rec Center (115 7th Ave SW) starting at 9 AM. For people who are unable to march, we encourage you to meet at Sally Fox Park at 9:30 AM.
Our featured speaker is Rev. Steve Allen. A Greensboro native, Rev. Allen was a youth participant in the pace-setting civil rights movement in Greensboro. He was mentored by Rev. Otis Hairston of Shiloh Baptist Church, the same church where two of the initial A&T Four attended — David Richmond (Rev. Steve’s brother-in-law) and Ezell Blair, Jr. (now Jibreel Khazan). Rev. Steve has been closely aligned with the pursuit of voting rights, civil rights and equity, encouraged by his family, church, and historic alma mater, North Carolina A&T State University. He has served his community as a civil rights attorney, elected Superior Court Judge, and pastor. Most recently he was Pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church and resident of the Pulpit Forum of Greensboro, an association of African-American clergy that holds an inspiring history of supporting justice struggles. He and other Pulpit Forum Clergy played a pivotal role in pushing the City Council of Greensboro to render a substantive apology for the role of its police department and other public officials in the Greensboro Massacre of November 3, 1979. Rev. Allen is a member of the Board of Directors of Beloved Community Center, where he has also assumed the role of Interim Leader of the Administrative and Management Team. Rev. Allen has also actively participated in the Moral Monday Movement of NC and the National Poor People’s Campaign.
We encourage all to come out to March for Voting Rights.
